Alfred G. Helgren

Alfred G. Helgren, 79, formerly of Fairfield, died March 31 in Mediplex of Danbury.

He was the father of Jeffrey R. Helgren of Newtown.

Born in Bridgeport, Mr Helgren lived in Fairfield for many years. He was the former owner of the Circle Shell Station in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport. Mr Helgren was a World Was II Army veteran, and an active member of the Black Rock Congregational Church. He was the husband of the late Jeanne (Berg) Helgren.

Survivors include another son, Richard K. Helgren of Florida; one sister, Mary Schmidt of New Hampshire; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held April 6, in the Black Rock Congregational Church. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery.

The Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, was in charge of arrangements.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Black Rock Congregational Church.
