Mail Boxes Etc Promotes Recycling

Mail Boxes Etc of Sand Hill Plaza has teamed up with the Plastic Loose Fill Council (PLFC) to encourage the recycling of loose-fill packaging foam “peanuts” in observance of Earth Day on Saturday, April 22.

The PLFC recently announced that a nationwide survey revealed that nearly half of all US households (45 percent) throw away the polystyrene peanuts.  As part of its year-long efforts, Mail Boxes Etc (MBE) hopes to increase peanut recycling.

“We believe people should recycle every day, not just on Earth Day,” said Robert Ostro, MBE franchisee in Newtown. “Thanks to our relationship with the PLFC, we have the opportunity to help save the environment while holding down prices for our customers.”

Loose-fill foam peanuts may be brought to the MBE, 230 South Main Street, in Sand Hill Plaza for recycling.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Mail Boxes Etc, a wholly owned subsidiary of US Office Products Company with more than 4,000 locations operating worldwide. Consumers can call the Peanut Hotline at 800/828-2214 or visit the council’s Web site at www.loosefillpackaging.com to find the nearest MBE or other participating recycling center.
