Thomas Edward Presnell

Thomas Edward Presnell, 76, of 113 Ash Street, Bristol, Tenn., died March 28 at the VA Medical Center, Johnson City, Tenn.

He was the brother of Faye Miles and Frank Presnell of Newtown.

He is also survived by three sons, Tommy E. Presnell, Danbury; Sydney Phillip Presnell, Bristol, Tenn., Dwight R. Presnell, Blountville, Tenn.; one daughter, Sara Presnell Torcasia, Bristol, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; another sister, Edith Jones of Cheshire; and another brother, Paul Presnell of Tampa, Fla.

Mr Presnell was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mae Presnell, and a daughter, Barbara Jean (Presnell) Gosden.

Born in Washington County, Tenn., Mr Presnell had resided in Newtown for 38 years before retiring to Bristol, Tenn. He was a naval veteran of World War II and had earned 36 battle stars as a crew member on the aircraft carrier Essex. He was a life member of the VFW Post 308 of Newtown.

To further the education of medical students, Mr Presnell has requested that his body be donated to the Quillen Medical School, Johnson City, Tenn. A private service for the family was held shortly after his passing. A memorial service will be held graveside at a later date.
