NYS Offers April Break Options

For Middle Schoolers

Newtown Youth Services will be offering two programs for middle school students to do while April vacation (April 14–18) is in session.

“Teen Cruise” is a unique and creative program designed specifically for middle school students. Culinary and public health expert Christine Miaz will teach students the ins and outs of preparing a meal and entertaining a dinner party with an emphasis on safety, health, and creativity.

Students interested in having fun and learning to prepare delicious, springtime meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner should sign up for the program that will run for three days –– Monday, April 14, Tuesday, April 15, and Wednesday, April 16, from noon to 2:30 pm. The price of $45 includes all three sessions and materials. Maximum of ten students.

“Tennis Academy” is an opportunity for students to practice their tennis skills with Youth Outreach Coordinator Matt Rosen. Participants will experience drills, strategies, and noncompetitive tournament play. The program will meet at Dickinson Park Tennis courts. The program will be held Tuesday, April 15, from 1 to 3:30 pm, and Thursday, April 17, from noon to 2:30 pm. The cost is $5 per session. Maximum of 12 students.

To register for either of these programs call 270-4335.
