Poetic Tribute To Ordinary Things

Gerard Brooker will be at C.H. Booth Library for a poetry reading on Sunday, April 6, at 2 pm. He will feature poems from his collection, A Quiet Conversation, which reviewers say exudes all of the passion, humor, and politics of a true storyteller. His poems are a tribute to the ordinary things that connect us all — life, love, desire, and death.

Mr Brooker received his doctorate in teaching from St John’s and is the former chairman of the English department at Staples High School. He was inducted into the Teacher’s Hall of Fame in 1998.

Recently Mr Brooker has traveled to Hanoi, Vietnam, as well as other foreign countries where he has worked on projects for international peace. His poetry is a reflection of his love of travel and his interest in the people he meets.

Currently Mr Brooker is working on a new collection of poetry call Even Whispers Can Be Heard, as well as a novel.

Registration is requested; contact the library at 426-4533. C.H. Booth Library is at 25 Main Street.
