Mt Pleasant DUI

Police report that while on patrol at about 12:22 am on March 28, they spotted a vehicle parked on eastbound Mt Pleasant Road, near Tory Lane, so they stopped and investigated.

Police said they found that the vehicle had its engine running. After investigating, police said they charged motorist Leonardo Diaz, 53, of 6 Merlin's Lane with driving under the influence.

Following arrest processing, police said they released Diaz from custody on $500 bail for an April 12 arraignment on the charge in Danbury Superior Court.

Three Vehicles

State police report a three-vehicle accident at about 6:08 pm on March 22 on westbound Interstate 84, west of the Exit 10 on-ramp, in which the driver of a black or brown Ford F-150 pickup truck struck a SUV and a minivan and then drove away from the scene.

While traveling in traffic, the truck first collided with a 2012 Jeep Wrangler driven by a New Milford woman, after which the truck struck a 2007 Honda Odyssey driven by a Sherman woman, state police said.

Both woman drivers refused medical attention, state police said. The pickup truck that was involved in the two collision would have front-end/driver's side damage from the two impacts, state police said.

Exit 9 Collision

State police said a two-vehicle accident occurred about 7:16 pm on March 24 at the end of eastbound Interstate 84's Exit 9 off-ramp.

In that incident, motorist Katelynn Logie, 20, of Easton, who was driving a 2004 Saab 9-3 auto, struck the rear end of a 2011 BMW 335-XI auto driven by Benjamin Boese, 37, of Trumbull, state police said.

There were no injuries. Logie received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, according to state police.

Rear-Ender

At about 6:24 pm on March 24, motorist Christine Mattei, 63, of Southbury, who was driving a 2009 Toyota RAV-4 SUV in heavy traffic in the left lane of two lanes on eastbound Interstate 84 near the Exit 9 interchange, stopped and was then struck from behind by motorist Sean Pickwick, 37, of 8 Dodgingtown Road, who was driving a 2005 Saab 9-5, auto, state police said.

There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.

Chevy vs Ford

Police report a two-vehicle accident on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Wasserman Way, about 7 am on March 17.

Motorist Cynthia Fulton, 66, of Capitol Drive, who was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Impala sedan, and motorist Bruce Gervais, 66, of Philo Curtis Road, who was driving a 2002 Ford F-250 pickup truck, were both traveling westward on Berkshire Road, police report.

The Chevrolet then attempted to pass the Ford on the left, resulting in a collision, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Fulton a written warning for unsafe passing.

Electric Lamps Stolen

Police said they are investigating the reported theft from storage of two large decorative metallic lantern-style electric lamps that formerly had been positioned on the Church Hill Road bridge which crosses above the Pootatuck River in Sandy Hook Center.

Police said they learned on March 29 that the two lamps were stolen sometime between February 5 and March 11 from their storage place behind PJ's Laundromat at 110 Church Hill Road. The two lamps were among four such lamps that formerly were positioned on the bridge.

Police ask anyone with knowledge of the theft to contact investigating Officer Adam James at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.

Intersection Crash

Police report that at about 12:23 pm on March 25, motorist Shane Montero, 28, of Lagrangeville, N.Y., was driving a Ford Focus eastward on Schoolhouse Hill Road, as driver Francisco Vasquez, 50, of Waterbury was driving a Mitsubishi box truck   northward on The Boulevard.

Both drivers were approaching the four-way-stop intersection of Schoolhouse Hill Road and The Boulevard, police said.

The Ford, however, did not stop at a stop sign, resulting in the two vehicles colliding, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Montero an infraction on charges of failure to obey a stop sign and driving without a license.

DUI Incident

Police report that at about 10:50 pm on March 30, they received a report from a person in the vicinity of the intersection of Mt Pleasant Road and Pocono Road concerning a motorist who was erratically driving a 2013 BMW X-5 SUV on Mt Pleasant Road, so they went to the area to investigate.

Police said they located that vehicle in question on Old Bethel Road and investigated, after which they arrested motorist Chung Me Maher, 56, of 128 Castle Hill Road, charging her with driving under the influence.

Police said they released Maher for an April 14 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
