The fourth annual Newtown Woman's Club Spring Fling Sing-Along - in the Alexandria Room at Edmond Town Hall on Saturday, April 14, at 6 pm - will celebrate the 1952 musical feature Singin' in the Rain.nwc-gfwc.org.

Guests will be treated to singing, food catered by Nick's Catering, and lots of fun. Attendees will be encouraged to sing-along to the Singin' in the Rain soundtrack while enjoying the movie and reliving such iconic tunes as "Make 'em Laugh," "Moses Supposes," and of course, the film's title song.

The special event will run from 6 to 10 pm. Cost is $30 per person. Dinner will be served at 6, and the screening will begin at 7 pm. Light refreshments are also covered in the ticket price. Guests are welcome to BYOB.

Edmond Town Hall is at 45 Main Street, and is handicapped accessible; the Alexandria Room is on the building's third floor.

Tickets are available at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street; or by calling 203-426-9101 or 203-426-3651.

For 50 years, Newtown Woman's Club, GFWC has been a part of the community, providing volunteer service as a member of both the Greater Federation of Women's Clubs of Connecticut and the General Federation of Women's Clubs. Any woman who is interested in community service is invited to join. The club schedules a luncheon meeting on the third Thursday of each month, from September through May.

Newtown Woman's Club will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. On March 25, 1968, ten Newtown women met with the GFWC/CT president and president elect, and voted unanimously to form a federated club. A golden anniversary event is being planned.
