Carol Birch, a former librarian and the winner of a number of awards, will offer the next program hosted by Newtown Historical Society.

Ms Birch will be at C.H. Booth Library on Monday, April 11, at 7:30 pm, to present "Lou Gehrig: The Story of a Great Man."

She will share stories of Gehrig's excellence off and on the field. While setting many records as a first baseman and pinch hitter during 17 seasons with the New York Yankees (1923-39) and competing with teammate Babe Ruth, he always gave his utmost and never rested his whole career.

The talk will conclude with the tragedy that befell him, and the disease that bears his name.

Historical society programs are free, and open to all. This one will be in the meeting room of the library, 25 Main Street.

For additional information call 203-426-5937.
