SCAN Spring Show Call For Art

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) is inviting area artists to enter the 46th Annual SCAN Spring Juried Art Show.

The show will be presented at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown, Friday through Sunday, April 22-24.

Receiving will be Thursday, April 21, from 3 to 6 pm, at the library. Artists should use the lower rear entry of the building to gain access to the meeting room, where the show will be presented.

Jurors for the show are Clayton Buchanan, an-award winning artist who, among other achievements, was invited to show at the Butler Institute of American Art in 2013; Robert Noreika, AWS, a prominent watercolorist and illustrator whose paintings hang in many corporate and private collections across the country and overseas; and Joel Spector, an award-winning member of The Pastel Society of America.

Artist are invited to submit acrylics, oils, mixed media works, pastels, prints, sculpture, and watercolors for consideration. All work must be completely conceived and recently created by the artist, and not previously shown at any SCAN shows. Entrees need not be for sale.

Each artist is limited to two pieces of work. Entry fees are $30 for the first work ($15 for SCAN members), and $10 for the second ($5 for members).

A reception and awards ceremony will be hosted by SCAN on April 23 from 2 to 4 pm. Awards will be announced at 3 pm. The show's top award is The Larry Newquist Award For Excellence/Best in Show, which is accompanied by a $500 cash prize. An additional $1,000 in cash prizes will also be presented.
