Nancy W. Rahikka

Nancy W. (Hull) Rahikka, 83, of Newtown died peacefully at The Gardens in Danbury April 4. She was the wife of the late Richard R. Rahikka for 46 years. She was born October 31, 1931, in Southport, and was the daughter of Fannie (Lepisto) and Charles E. Hull. 

Mrs Rahikka was a lover of animals, especially her beloved cats. She was an avid book reader and artist who loved to paint and draw, and was a self-taught organist.

A staunch liberal who called herself an “independent,” she enjoyed engaging in political debate and discourse with others. She was a real Connecticut Yankee. 

Her son Mark and his wife Barbara of Massapequa, N.Y., and two nieces and a nephew survive Mrs Rahikka. Her parents and a sister, Virginia Miner, predeceased her.

There will be a celebration of her life from 10:30 am to noon, Friday, April 10, at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, followed by interment at the Newtown Village Cemetery.

Mrs Rahikka enjoyed her time at The Gardens, and the family would like to thank the staff and administration for their excellent care.
