Peggy Jane (Adams) Smith, 77, of Newtown, and formerly a longtime resident of Los Gatos, Calif., died peacefully March 9, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Frank David Smith. She was born on July 17, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa, the last of five children born to Ithema (Dudley) and Raymond Adams. 

Her sons Frank Smith, and his wife Darlene, of San Jose, Calif., and Patrick Smith, and his wife Michele, and grandchildren Colton, Kira, and Carlie, all of Sandy Hook; her brother Roland Adams, and his wife Joan; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and in-laws survive Ms Smith. Her siblings Charles Adams, Cecilia (Adams) Morgan, and Richard “Dick” Adams predeceased Ms Smith. 

Widowed at a young age, Ms Smith worked hard to raise her boys, and did so with the support of a great family and awesome neighbors. She loved having family and friends around, and cooking for them made her happy. She worked many years in the food service industry at senior housing complexes. She enjoyed her time with co-workers and residents.

A celebration of her life will take place April 17 in San Jose.
