Volleyball Squad Defeats Pomperaug, Falls To Barlow

Newtown High School's boys' volleyball team posted a 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-16) win over host Pomperaug of Southbury on April 13.

In the win, Matt Mattera had two aces, three digs, and 25 assists; Will Connors had one kill, and nine digs; Thad Teraszkiewicz recorded an ace, 22 kills, and seven digs; Collin Granville had an ace, one kill, and four digs; and Nico Diaz logged two aces, ten kills, and seven digs.

The Nighthawks went to Joel Barlow of Redding on April 18 and lost 3-0 (26-24, 25-10, 25-17) to fall to 3-3 overall. Mattera had an ace, nine digs, and 22 assists; Teraszkiewicz had four aces, 22 kills, nine digs, three blocks, and an assist; and Lewis Tomaj had one kill and six blocks.

After a match with NFA on Wednesday (read about it in the April 29 print edition of The Bee) the Hawks are to visit Kolbe Cathedral on Saturday, April 23 at 1:30 pm.
