Town Hall Music will kick off its inaugural season with Newtown High School’s Gold Jazz Ensemble on Saturday, May 16, at 8 pm, in Edmond Town Hall’s Alexandria Room. Proceeds will benefit the Newtown High School Music Program.

Produced by Pearl Productions of Brookfield, “Town Hall Music” will bring renowned musicians to the iconic building’s Alexandria Room for enjoyment by audiences of up to 150 people.

Tickets are $25, and available at www.townhallmusic.net.

According to series presenter Lisa Reiss, “Our goal is to provide an intimate setting to enjoy incredible music. As the series continues and gains audience support, we envision hosting performances in the Edmond Town Hall Theatre as well.”

The NHS Gold Jazz Band finished sixth out of 93 bands at the Berklee Jazz Festival in Boston in January and was named Outstanding at the Clark Terry Jazz Festival in March.

“What an exciting opportunity for our talented jazz band,” said Kurt Eckhardt, director of bands at Newtown High School. “We’re proud to be launching this series in our town.”

Additional performances already scheduled, all to begin at 8 pm on Saturdays, include:

June 20, The Jones Factor, a ten piece “little big band” featuring trombonist and bandleader John Fumasoli (tickets $25);

July 18, Les Paul’s Trio — Nicki Parrott, bass/vocals; Lou Pallo guitar; and John Colianni, piano — celebrating 100 years of the legendary inventor of the electric guitar and multi-track recording (tickets $35); and

August 15, The Guthrie Brothers — brothers Jeb and Jock — who blend “their rich voices together to weave an enjoyable tapestry that leaves everyone smiling,” with “Scarborough Fair: A Simon and Garfunkel Experience” (tickets $25).
