Golf Teams Win Matches

Newtown High School’s girls’ golf team won two of three matches this past week.

The Nighthawks visited Immaculate of Danbury on April 24 and lost. The Nighthawks shot a 223, and Immaculate carded a 217. Gigi Marino shot a 52, Abby Watson 54, Cailin Wilson 58, and Kendall Reed 59.

The Nighthawks defeated host Stratford 236-326 on April 25. Marino shot a 58, Watson a 60, Reed 58, and Nidhi Mukka 60.

Newtown defeated Bunnell of Stratford at Newtown Country Club on April 29. Newtown shot a 227 and Bunnell had a 309. Marino carded a 53, Watson a 62, Wilson 56, and Mukka 56.

The boys’ golf team defeated Weston 175-183 at Rock Ridge Country Club on April 24.

David Brestovansky shot a 41, Tim Davis 45, Trevor Hislop carded a 40 for medalist honors, Jimmy Davies 55, Jake Mailloux 49, and Alex Walton 50.

The Nighthawks shot a 196 and lost to Immaculate (169) at Richter Park in Danbury on April 29. Brestovansky shot a 49, Hislop 44, Davies 50, Mailloux 53, Andrew Gardner 61, and Adam Klezewski 46.

Newtown won again on April 30 as the boys shot a 164 to host Brookfield's 175 at Sunset Hill Golf Club. Brestovansky shot a 36, Tavis 43, Hislop 44, Davies 41, Klezewski 53, and Brendan Adams 47.

Newtown improved to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the South-West Conference.
