New Location For SCAN Juried Spring Show & Sale

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will present its 49th Annual Juried Spring Art Show and Sale at a new location this year: Art & Frame, 77 Main Street (Route 25), May 4-18.

Regional artists will be submitting work to be considered for the exhibition. Media accepted into the show will include works in watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, graphics, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media (including collage).

Jurors for selection and awards are nationally known artists Bivenne Harvey Staiger, Peter Seltzer, and Susan Grisell.

The annual Larry Newquist Award for Excellence/Best in Show prize for $600 and numerous other prizes (totaling $2,000) will be announced during at the show reception, scheduled for Saturday, May 4, from 5 to 7 pm. The awards presentation is scheduled for 6 pm.

The public is invited to the reception. Light refreshments will be served.

The public is also invited to visit the exhibition during the run of the show. Hours will be Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm.

rt & Frame had been operating in Danbury for many years, before Newtown resident and business owner John O'Sullivan relocated to the former Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps headquarters on Main Street. Art & Frame celebrated its formal Newtown opening in February.
