Booth Library Holds Annual Ice Cream Social
The anticipated inclement weather on Thursday, August 20 did not stop dozens of people from celebrating C.H. Booth Library’s annual Ice Cream Social.
The event coincides with the birthday of Newtown benefactress Mary Hawley, whose funding paid for the construction of the town library named to honor her maternal grandfather.
Children and adults alike excitedly lined up to enjoy a free scoop of Ferris Acres Creamery ice cream; they could help themselves to one of eight flavors, ranging from Bad Habit and cake batter to cookie dough and Sunset on the Peach.
Some people were so excited that they lined up 50 minutes before the small booth outside the library officially opened. Regardless of when they arrived, many people stuck around after they picked their ice cream, happily talking amongst themselves as they enjoyed good food and good company.
