Greenwich Workshop Announces
First Annual SmallWorks⢠North America Exhibition And Competition
SEYMOUR â The Greenwich Workshop, the nationâs leading publisher of limited edition fine art prints and canvases, in conjunction with The Greenwich Workshop Gallery will present its inaugural SmallWorks⢠North America exhibition and competition.
The exhibition â a $20,000 purse, open invitation juried show â is an extension and expansion of The Greenwich Workshop Galleryâs annual miniature show. The exhibition and competition will be held at The Greenwich Workshop Gallery from November 24 through December 31 in Fairfield.Â
Medal winners will be chosen by collector (public) voting on the Internet and judgesâ recommendations. The top 40 works of the 300 exhibitors will be invited to participate in The Greenwich Workshopâs spring 2008 SmallWorks⢠Fine Art Editions Catalogue, which is distributed to The Greenwich Workshopâs 1,200-plus Fine Art Dealer Network and reaches hundreds of thousands of collectors nationwide.
âSmallWorks⢠was conceived to elevate the increasingly popular miniature show format by bestowing on this event all of the capabilities of The Greenwich Workshop â to exhibit, sell and publish the best art from the finest artists living today,â said Scott Usher, president of The Greenwich Workshop. âWe believe the $20,000 purse sets and raises the bar.
âTo collectors itâs an indication of The Greenwich Workshopâs commitment to presenting them with the finest work from the finest artists,â he continued. âFor artists it presents an opportunity â beyond the sale of the original â for greater gain by providing a prize-winning opportunity to show their best work to a nationwide audience.â
Chris Usher, director of The Greenwich Workshop Gallery, said, âThe Greenwich Workshop and The Greenwich Workshop Gallery have an unrivaled 35-year legacy of finding and cultivating artistic talent, offering artists expanded opportunities to sell originals and broaden their buying audience by entering the fine art limited reproduction marketplace. We have seen tremendous interest in the exhibition thus far from unknown and established artists alike and eagerly look forward to involving the growing number of miniatures collectors in the awards process.â
