Awards Presented At SCAN Spring Show

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) presented the following awards to artists during the opening of The 35th Annual Spring Juried Art Show on Sunday, May 1, at Cyrenius H. Booth Library.

The Larry Newquist Award for Excellence – Best in Show was presented to Dick McEvoy for “Nantucket Dunes.”

Also, The Lois Zimmermann Memorial Award to Michael Morshuk for “Schooner of Monhegan Island”;

The Ida Van Tassell Memorial Award to M. Caissy Colman for “On the Fringe”;

The Bee Publishing Company Award to Ron DeFelice for “Days End”;

The Newtown Savings Bank Award to Sandra Scott for “Southern Belles”;

The Taunton Press Award to Janice Baragwanath for “Brian”;

The Anthony E. Wallace, Sr. Award to Lisa Willvonseder-Greto for “Open Book”;

The Savings Bank of Danbury Award to Edw. Kruelski, Jr. for “Threads of Autumn”;

Four Society of Creative Arts of Newtown Awards to Beth Schweitzer for “Reverie,” Leslie Lillien Levy for “Pink Calla Lilies,” Marija P. McCarthy for “Silent Interior, Pompeii,” and Lorraine A. Agri for “No Heart in Mind”;

The Barn Gallery Award to Madeleine Moriarty for “Angela”;

And two Frame Works Awards to Marilyn Ventresca DiChiara for “Elizabeth’s Favorite Spot,” and to Ben Palagonia for “Three Goddesses.”

The show is open during library hours through 4pm Sunday May 8th.
