Seeking Nominees For Gail Smith And Outstanding Youth Awards
Newtown Youth Services is currently seeking nominations for its annual Gail Smith Awards. Each year Youth Services recognizes a youth, an adult, and a business that have made an outstanding contributions and leadership for the betterment of services, facilities, and recognition of Newtownâs youth.
Nominations may be made by writing a one-page letter stating why the person or business nominated should receive the award. Youth nominated must be 18 years of age or younger. People making nominations need to include their own name, address, and phone number, and well as the same information for the nominee.
Gail Smith, a founder of NYS, believed in the youth of this community. A large part of her life as a teacher, volunteer, and parent was dedicated to enabling children to realize their full potential and in turn help Newtownâs youth use their gifts and talents for the well being of peers and community.
Also Outstanding Youth Awards will take place on Thursday, May 26, at 4 pm, in the Booth Library. Nominees will be judged on outstanding qualities in the following categories: Service to Others, Babysitting, Friend, Sister/Brother, or any other outstanding quality.

All nominations must be received by noon, May 6. The Gail Smith Awards Ceremony is Monday, May 23, at 7 pm, in the Booth Library.
