Volleyball Team Piles Up 3-0 Victories

Newtown High School’s boys’ volleyball team extended its winning streak to five matches, all of which have come in the minimum number of games, by defeating visiting Oxford 3-0 (25-8, 25-9, 25-7) on April 30, then besting host Norwich Free Academy (NFA) 3-0 (25-10, 25-17, 25-12) on May 3.

In the win over Oxford, Thad Teraszkiewicz had six kills, two digs, and 11 aces; Aidan Stout logged five kills, one dig, one block, and eight aces; Matt Mattera had four kills, one assist, one dig, and two aces; and Sawyer Findley compiled 17 assists to go along with five digs and two aces.

Against NFA, Teraszkiewicz had eight kills, ten aces, and two digs; Stout had nine kills, six aces, and seven digs; Jasin Kodzodziku registered two kills, two blocks, an ace, and one dig; and Findley racked up 28 assists to go along with two digs, a pair of aces, and one kill.

Newtown finally dropped a match in a hard-fought 3-0 setback to Cheshire on May 5. Read more about the team's overall improvement in the May 14 print edition of The Bee.
