The Newtown Public Schools Recovery Project has slated its next parent forums, to be held at Newtown High School, Middle Gate Elementary School, and Head O’ Meadow Elementary School.

Each forum will be presented twice, once during the school day and again in the evening, to allow for maximum participation. Each program will run for one hour.

The Newtown High School Parent Forum, “How To Talk To Your Teenager Without Saying a Word,” is set for Tuesday, May 13. It will be facilitated by Barbara Bourgeois, MS, NCC, of Wellmore Behavioral Health, and will help parents learn new ideas for communicating with their teen.

The first presentation will begin at 9 am, and the second presentation will be at 6 pm. Both presentations will be held in the NHS main office conference room.

The next Middle Gate Parent Forum, “Raising Happy Children,” is also set for May 13. It will be facilitated by Eileen Donnelly-Phillips, MSW, of Wellmore Behavioral Health, and will offer strategies and tips for giving children a positive and happy outlook.

The first forum will begin at 9:15 am, and the second presentation will be at 6 pm. Both presentations will be held in the school’s library media center.

The Head O’ Meadow Parent Forum, “Transitions, Transitions, Transitions!” is set for Wednesday, May 14. It will be facilitated by Rosa Baldino, MSW, of Wellmore Behavioral Health, and Head O’ Meadow school counselor Linda Romanchok. This program will focus on ways to help children manage transitions and the impact of transitions on a child’s emotional/behavioral changes.

The first presentation will begin at 9 am in the school’s cafeteria, and the second presentation will begin at 6 pm in the school’s library.
