Newtown Senior Center reopened its doors to members for programs this week, after being online and curbside for just about a year.

Some programs are still being offered with livestream options, while others are in person.

Tai chi, billiards, Zumba, Morning Meditation, Chair Pilates, Hot Topics, Knitting and Crafts are among the offerings that have returned.

Employees expect to have additional programs return in June, according to the center's May newsletter.

Programs are being offered in limited capacity indoors, while employees also continue outdoor and virtual presentations. Social distancing is in place for all programs, and all guests — and employees — will continue to wear facemasks until further notice. Reservations are also required for all programs and activities, furthering the efforts to contain COVID-19 and its spread.

The center will be closed Wednesday, May 12, for a COVID-19 vaccination clinic.

Newtown Senior Center is open to those age 55 and over. Annual dues are $20 for Newtown residents, and $25 for non-residents, which covers most of the programming. Located at 8 Primrose Street within the Fairfield Hills campus, the center can be reached by calling 203-270-4310.
