Newtown High School’s boys’ lacrosse team had its scheduled May 3 clash with visiting Trumbull postponed by lightning (rescheduled for Wednesday, May 28 at 7 pm). The 15 For Life fundraising/awareness about mental health fundraising events were to have taken place on May 3 and will now be held May 28 beginning with the junior varsity game at 5 pm.

The Nighthawks lost a pair of games against South-West Conference teams to begin May action — 11-1 to visiting New Fairfield on May 1 and 15-9 at Joel Barlow of Redding on May 6.

In the Barlow game Owen Hannah scored three times, Nate Pickard notched two goals and two assists, Charlie Massett scored twice, Marcus Gerace logged a pair of assists, Nick Stockwell and Graham Spencer both scored, and Luke Stewart recorded an assist.

Spencer had five ground balls, Cole Stockwell four ground balls, Asher Williams three grounders, and Hannah Brady Brosius, and Charlie Dunn two apiece. Goaltender Andrew Faircloth made eight saves.

NHS then won a thriller, 11-10 at Bethel, on May 8. Read all about that exciting win in the May 16 print edition of The Bee.
