Thanks to a generous gift from Newtown’s Sal e Pepe restaurant, the Newtown Senior Center celebrated Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, with a curbside lunch.

Natalie Jackson, Director of Human Services, Judy Thomas, Assistant to the Senior Center, and Jennifer Cebry, Newtown Community Center Program Coordinator donned their best Mother’s Day hats and handed off a delicious lunch curbside, along with a beautiful rose and gift bag, to seniors.

First Selectman, Dan Rosenthal stopped by to wave and wish everyone a Happy Mother’s Day.

Senior Center members Valerie Giarratano and Pat Layda joined the festivities by making a sign and waving to the seniors as they drove by.

Although it was not the traditional Mother’s Day Tea usually hosted by the Senior Center each May, “it was easy to see our members had big smiles behind their face coverings, as we celebrated them on this special day,” said Thomas.
