Wins Essay Contest

HARTFORD — Tracy Ravetto, a senior at Newtown High School, has been named the first prize winner in the first James W. Cooper Fellows Essay Contest, according to Kate Stith, president of the Connecticut Bar Foundation and deputy dean of Yale Law School.

Miss Ravetto’s essay entitled “Unequal Justice for All” was named the overall statewide winner. She was awarded a $3,000 savings bond at the annual James W. Cooper Fellows reception on May 9 at the New Haven Lawn Club.

She is the daughter of Susan and Fred Ravetto of Sandy Hook. Miss Ravetto is the secretary of the National Honor Society at Newtown High School, is captain of the varsity cross-country team, and also serves as president of the Leo Club. She plans to attend Boston College’s Carroll School of Management in the fall.
