Volunteers Needed To Fill Vacancies

The first selectman’s office is calling on qualified residents to consider offering some time to several local boards and commissions.

Applicants for one of two openings on the Fairfield Hills Authority to be filled by a Republican or unaffiliated voter have until June 21 to express their interest in writing either through the local Republican Town Committee or to the first selectman directly.

That date also marks the deadline for either a Republican or an unaffiliated voter to request consideration for an opening on the Conservation Commission, and the town’s Economic Development Commission.

A Democrat or unaffiliated voter is also required to fill a second vacancy on the Fairfield Hills Authority. That second candidate has until June 28 to respond with a letter of interest to the Democratic Town Committee or the first selectman.

Following a review of all applicants, the Board of Selectmen is expected to make final recommendations and take action on those appointments July 6. Any questions can be directed to the first selectman’s office at 203-270-4201.
