Students Inducted Into NHS’s World Language Honor Society

Newtown High School hosted its annual World Language Honor Society Induction ceremony on Thursday, May 16, in the school’s cafetorium.

NHS World Language Department Chair Elizabeth Ward-Toller welcomed all in attendance to celebrate the success of the high school’s world language students.

“These students understand the value of language,” Ms Ward-Toller said. Later, she added, “Congratulations to you all on a well-deserved recognition.”

Students inducted into the National Chinese Honor Society were Annika Brady, Mary Locke, and Mason Suba.

Students inducted into the Société Française were Sarah Flynn, Danielle Johnson, Greta Loesel, Eileen McCleary, Shivani Mendiratta, Colleen Phaneuf, and Julie Tobin.

Students inducted into the Società Onoraria Italica were Lydia Harrison, Hannah Marcum, Victoria Moran, Megan Riccardi, and Luke Sposato.

Students inducted into the Societas Latina were Angela Carriero, Madeleine Carter, Kevin Gong, Jackson Kennel, James Knox, Jetson Ku, Charlize Marrazzo, Annelie Minor, Elizabeth Minor, Anne Richards, Lakshaanya Saravanan, Olivia Steare, Marie Ann Tomaj, Lily van der Kroef, Maya Wadhwa, and Laura Wong.

Students inducted into the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica were Rebecca Alicea, Mary Celentano, Milan Chand, Audrey Christensen, Amanda Conrod, Emma DaSilva, Caroline DePinto, Jacob Goldstein, Caitlyn Greenspan, Cathryn Gregory, Sophia Guizzo, Sofiya Hafiz, Sydney Howard, Daniel Ingersoll, Richard Irving, Madeline Larson, Sachin Mansukhani, Jack McDonnell, Taylor McPadden, Kiera O’Sullivan, Lianna Perazzo, Anne Richards, Katarina Rosen, Amy Sapenter, Evan Song, Casey Sullivan, Sarah Tressler, and Cyleigh Wilson.

After students were inducted into the society, a reception was held.
