EverWonder Children’s Museum, an interactive, STEM-based museum geared towards children and families, is set to celebrate its grand reopening on Saturday, June 6, at its new 31 Pecks Lane location.

The grand opening celebration will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 am, free admission between 10 and 11 am, and half-price admission until closing at 5 pm.  Visitors can expect pop-up science demonstrations, art and science activities, and specially scheduled entertainment throughout the day all while enjoying the new museum.

Special aspects of the museum include an expanded exhibit gallery, a Young Explorer area, art labs, a Tinker Lab, and classroom space.

Karen Smiley, the newly appointed executive director of EverWonder Children’s Museum, is looking forward to celebrating this milestone with the public.

“It has been rewarding to see the museum grow from an idea to a fully-operating museum over the last four years and I am thrilled to be able to spend the day exploring at the museum with our visitors,” said Ms Smiley.

A founding board member of EverWonder, Ms Smiley accepted the position of Executive Director in April.  Since then, she has been hard at work preparing for the grand opening and ensuring that EverWonder Children’s Museum exceeds visitor’s expectations on all fronts.

The museum, which previously operated a 2,000-square-foot mini-museum (which closed in August 2014), recently relocated to a larger 6,500-square-foot space, allowing for an expansion of exhibit and program offerings.  The museum officially opened its doors at the new location with  on April 6, and has used the time since then to fine tune exhibits, programs, and operations.

“It’s going to be a fun-filled day and we hope the public will come out to learn who we are and what we do,” said Ms Smiley.

Formed in January 2011 by a group of parents, EverWonder Children’s Museum (incorporated as Newtown Children’s Museum, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring children and families in northern Fairfield County through the use of hands-on museum exhibits and demonstrations.

Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am-5 pm; and Sunday, noon  to 5 pm. Regular admission is $7 for visitors over 1 year of age. Memberships are available for purchase.
