Rebecca Gellis received bachelor of science degrees in both management and psychology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in Troy, N.Y., on Saturday May 16.

Francesca Piscitelli was presented with Lycoming College’s Chieftain Award during Honors Convocation on April 19. The award is the highest honor given to a graduating senior and recognizes the student who has shown the utmost determination and leadership qualities while at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Penn,, and whose academic rank is above the median of the preceding senior class. Francesca is a business management and psychology major. She is the president of the Campus Activities Board, a member of the Student Senate and several college governance committees, and a sister of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. Francesca is also a member of several honor societies, a manager for the Office of Student Programs and Leadership Development, and does work study for the Institute for Management Studies. Francesca has also completed internships with Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Allenwood Federal Prison, and this fall she plans to attend Pacific University, in Forest Grove, Ore., for a five-year doctorate of psychology program in clinical psychology.

Alex Snow graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor of science degree in information technology from Western New England College in Springfield, Mass., on May 16. Alex also received the Achievement Award in Information Technology at a Baccalaureate Awards Ceremony the previous day.

Farley Miller, a senior at American University’s College of Arts & Sciences majoring in audio technology, was named to the fall 2008 Dean’s List. Shane McCarthy, a sophomore in American University’s School of International Service majoring in international services, was named to the fall 2008 Dean’s List. To earn Dean’s List at American University, in Washington, D.C., a student must obtain a 3.5 grade point average or more.

Amanda Lockwood received a bachelor of fine arts degree in interior design and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Paier College of Art in Hamden on May 27.

Lisa Marie Alberico and Amanda Marie Black, both of Sandy Hook, made the spring 2009 Dean’s List at Keene State College, in Keene, N.H.

Mary Katherine Lopiccolo graduated as valedictorian Sunday, May 31, from the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall, in Milford. She plans to attend Brown University in the fall. She was the recipient of the following awards: Science Medal, Latin Medal, Distinguished Service Award, and Citizen Award.

Melissa Russell graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor of art degree in psychology from Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic on Sunday, May 24. While studying at Eastern she was vice president of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology, and the secretary of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society. Melissa plans to continue her education with a master’s in behavior analysis at Penn State University.

Jenna Van Waalwijk was announced on the Dean’s List for the spring 2008 semester at Muhlenberg College, in Allentown, Penn. Students must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.5 to attain Dean’s List status.

Catherine O’Connor was named to the Dean’s List at Elizabethtown College, in Elizabethtown, Penn., for the spring 2009 semester. Students earning a semester grade point average of 3.5 or more in nine or more credit hours of letter-graded coursework are placed on the Dean’s List at the college.

Amber D. Butler graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor of science in biology and departmental honors in psychology from Bucknell University, in Lewisburg, Penn., on May 17.

Also at Bucknell University, Abigail L. Atkinson, Amber D. Butler, Lauren N. Kostes, and Alexander C. Meisel were named on the Dean’s List for 2009 spring semester at the university.

Erin Baier, Kelsey Cantore, Ashleigh Pasko, and Carol Russell, all of Sandy Hook, were named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2009 semester at Quinnipiac University in Hamden.

Laura M. Boff, Grace M. Hubina, Dorothy A. McKain, and Oksana M. Sokolova graduated from Naugatuck Valley Community College during a ceremony held on Thursday, May 28.

Samantha Buchholz of Sandy Hook graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in journalism during commencement ceremonies on May 16.

Caitlin Norcross was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2009 semester at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Penn. Students must earn a minimum of 3.5 grade point average to attain Dean’s List status at the college.
