Oil Demo By Carol Reeves, June 11 At Meeting House

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host an oil painting demonstration by Carol Reeves on Wednesday, June 11. The program will begin at 7:30 pm and will be in the lower meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).

Ms Reeves’s subject will be a landscape, and a reception with light refreshments will follow.

Carol Reeves divides her time between Maine and Connecticut. This provides her with extensive plein-air painting opportunities. Her travels also allow her to paint on location throughout the United States and Europe. Working in both oils and pastels, her painterly approach using lively brush strokes and bold color have earned her the title of “colorist.”

Ms Reeves received her formal education from Lyme Academy of Fine Arts as well as studying with many master painters across the US.  Her work has been exhibited nationally, has earned her many prestigious awards, and is included in many private and corporate collections.

She serves on the executive board of Connecticut Pastel Society and is a CPS signature member. She is also a member of the American Society of Portrait Painters, American Academy of Women Artists, and the International Society of Pastel Painters.

In 2003 Ms Reeves participated in the Biennale Internazionale Dell’Arte Contemporanea in Florence, Italy.

Ms Reeves is represented by Downey Gallery in Santa Fe, N.M., and Hanson Gallery in Carmel, Calif.
