HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) â There is fear a Lambertville manâs art could become a junkyardâs treasure.
Dana Stewartâs 100-pound bronze sculpture has been missing for more than a week.
âThe Wave,ââ valued at $5,000, was just one piece of a four-structure work on display in a friendâs Hopewell Township lawn along Route 29. Thieves first tried to drag away three bigger pieces, but were unsuccessful.
Police say it took at least two people to move the sculptures, which were attached to the ground with steel beams.
Officers say its possible the thieves want to melt down the piece for scrap metal.
His friend is offering a reward for âThe Wave.ââ
The remaining sculptures will remain on display with a new base.
