To the Editor:

The kindness of the people of Newtown never ceases to amaze us at the FAITH Food Pantry. Since March we have received numerous food and monetary donations. Our volunteers have stepped up to shop, organize donations, and pack orders for families. Our clients have been great scheduling pick times and adhering to our new protocols.

We are grateful to the Knights of Columbus for monitoring our parking lot and helping clients load their cars. We would like to extend a special thank you to our local merchants, Angelo at Sal e Pepe, Ingrid at Villarina’s, and Steve at Butcher’s Best. At a time when resources have been scarce, these local merchants have helped fill our shelves and freezers.

We are open Tuesday 9:30 to 11:30 am and Thursday 4 to 6 pm. To receive food, we ask that you call 203-837-0816 or 203-426-5604 to schedule a pick-up time. FAITH stands for Food Assistance Immediate, Temporary Help. If you are a Newtown resident or know someone in town in need of food, please call to make an appointment.

Many thanks to all of you that have donated or volunteered or just called to ask how you could help. Our community has kept us up and running during this extraordinary period.
