Independence Day Holiday Closings & Early Deadlines

Most entities will be affected by Independence Day on Tuesday, July 4.

Town offices will be closed.

C.H. Booth Library, Edmond Town Hall, Newtown Community Center, and Newtown Senior Center will all be closed.

Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles offices continue to operate by appointment only. Visit portal.ct.gov/DMV to schedule one or to view the list of available online services.

There will be no regular mail delivery/pickup or retail services for the United States Postal Service on Tuesday.

All Federal Reserve banks and branches (most banks) will also be closed Tuesday.

The Bee Publishing Company offices will be closed on Tuesday, July 4. The office will be open Monday, July 3. It will reopen by 8 am Wednesday, July 5.

Print Edition Deadlines

Sales and Editorial deadlines will also be affected by the holiday.

Real estate display ads are due by 10 am Friday, June 30, for the July 7, 2023 print edition of The Newtown Bee.

Regular display (non-real estate) ads will be due at 5 pm Friday.

In-column real estate classified ads will be due by noon Monday, July 3.

Regular classified ads will have their regular 1 pm Wednesday deadline that week.

Press releases to be considered for the Business, Education, Health, and Sports pages will all be due by noon Friday, June 30.
