Church Concert

WASHINGTON, CONN. — First Church Concerts presents a jazz concert featuring Karen Rockwell, clarinet and sax, and Mike Van Allen, piano, on Friday, July 15, at 8 pm, at the First Congregational Church on the Green, Route 47.

Admission is by freewill offering; suggested donation $15.

The two featured artists will perform their own renditions of tunes by Jelly Roll Morton, George Gerschwin, Hoagy Charmichael, Cole Porter, Billy Strayhorn, Leonard Bernstein, and others.

Karen Rockwell is a graduate of Oberlin College, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the Hochschule der Kuenste in Berlin. Mr van Allen studied at the State University of New York and at New York University. He teaches jazz improvisation at Wesleyan College in Rochester, N.Y.
