Norman Shohet

Norman Shohet, 79, of Fairfield, died June 21 at The Jewish Home for the Elderly.

He is survived by his wife, June (Bruch) Shohet of Newtown; his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Barbara Shohet of Newtown and Michael and Carol Shohet of Pennsylvania; his granddaughter, Melissa Shohet; and his sister, Miriam Falk of Roslyn, N.Y.

Mr Shohet was born February 28, 1926, in Jersey City, N.J., son of Leon and Rose (Epstein) Shohet, and was a veteran of World War II having served in the Navy in the Philippines and the Pacific.

He worked as an insurance agent and an investment advisor, and was the proprietor of Republic Pension Services of Melville, N.Y. Mr Shohet was past chancellor/commander of the Jewish War Veterans of Port Jefferson, N.Y., and a past officer of the North Shore Jewish Center of Long Island.

Services took place on June 24 from The Abraham L. Green & Son Funeral Home, with interment following at Beth Moses Cemetery in Farmingdale, Long Island.
