Dr. Richard Fisher is featured this week.

Occupation: I am a dentist, specializing in general dentistry. I’m with Brookfield Dental Associates on Federal Road.

Family: I have a wife, Diane, and we have two daughters. Kaysie is 10 years old, and Nicole is 6 years old.

Pets: Kaysie has a few tropical fish, the survivors. We’ve been through quite a few…

How long have you lived in Newtown? We have lived here for 12 years. We’re originally from Yonkers, and lived in Danbury for three and a half years before moving to Newtown.

What do you like to do in your free time? First and foremost, I love to spend time with my family. I like to exercise and I like the outdoors. I enjoy yard work, and reading.

Do you have a favorite author? I like Stephen Covey. He’s basically a self-help, motivational type of author. I liked Trump 101 by Donald Trump, and I’m looking forward to Glenn Beck’s new book, The Overton Window.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Ultimately, our goal is to visit Australia, but that’s still a ways off. In the States, we really like Scottsdale, Arizona. Outside of the States, we love Nevis, in the Caribbean. It’s very laid back. There are actually monkeys on the golf course.

What is the best thing about Newtown? I like the sense of community, especially the tree lighting in Ram Pasture, and the Labor Day Parade. Those are two town activities we always look forward to.

Do you have a hero? I have two. Ronald Reagan. He was an optimistic leader. And Abraham Lincoln. He had his trials and tribulations and the Civil War to deal with. He led us through turmoil.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Strive for excellence, but stop and smell the roses along the way.

What makes you laugh? Probably my daughters. They come out with the funniest things, especially my younger one. Humor is definitely cathartic.
