Mentor And Inspiration

John Michael Roche, 74, husband of Barbara A. (Lauro) Roche, died at his home in Redding, Friday, June 25. He was born January 4, 1936, in New Haven, son of John Edward and Kathryn (Albinger) Roche.

In addition to his wife of 53 years, he will be sadly missed by his six children, including Laura DeMauro and her husband, Daniel, of Sandy Hook and Jeanmarie Hoover and her husband, Herb, of Newtown; eight loving grandchildren; three siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr Roche worked his entire professional career at the Perkin-Elmer Corporation. As a distinguished scientist, he was credited with several patents in the field of analytical instrumentation and had written and co-authored several technical papers. He retired in 1995 as the vice president, general manager of the Chromatography Division, Instrument Group.

Mr Roche served the Redding community in various capacities. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown.

His greatest love was his family. He had a terrific sense of humor and will be remembered as a mentor and inspiration to all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 29. Burial followed in Umpawaug Cemetery, Redding.
