To the Editor:

The Newtown Historical Society would like to express our sincere appreciation to all of the homeowners, committee members, volunteers, sponsors, and residents for their participation in our 18th annual House and Garden Tour. This year’s ticketholders supported our hometown museum by touring the exquisite properties located in Newtown’s historic district. We are grateful for the community’s support of our organization by attending this annual fundraiser.

The society is grateful for the hospitality of each homeowner in offering their homes and gardens for our “Mainly on Main Street” tour. We extend our appreciation to Betsy Kenyon, Renee and Kevin McManus, Karen Boyle and Mark Poirer, Shane and George Miller, Chris and Rob Hughes, and Patrick Hill. We also would like to thank the Newtown Meeting House, Holly Kocet and The Garden Club of Newtown, Town and Country Garden Club, the Horticulture Club of Newtown and The Bee Publishing Company for offering The Pleasance as a site on the tour.

Our organization wishes to recognize the efforts of the dedicated individuals who made this event possible. Our House and Garden Committee Members deserve a special thanks for all their work in preparing and executing a uniquely spectacular tour including: Gordon Williams, Lincoln Sander, Ginnie Carey, Mary Thomas, Dottie Evans, and Andrea Zimmerman. We would also like to acknowledge the work of Jo-Ann Seybold, Susan Cameron and our hardworking docents for contributing their time to cover all needed shifts.

The Newtown Historical Society is grateful for the generosity of our sponsors including Lincoln Sander, Beth Caldwell with William Raveis Real Estate, Cathy Masi with Flagpole Realty, Taunton Wine and Liquor, and the Inn at Newtown.

Thank you to the community for joining us on this tour, we look forward to seeing you throughout the year for our public programs and events!
