Anniversary Day At The Convent

MONROE — In honor of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, a day of celebration was held June 24 at the convent on Route 111 in Monroe.

The day began with a Mass offered by the Rev James Cole, the chaplain, and the crowning of the status of the Blessed Virgin Mary that adorns the front lawn of the provincial home of the sisters. A picnic was held on the grounds following the morning religious events.

Guests for the day included nuns from the sister home in Philadelphia, associates of the Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth from the area, and young girls who came to experience life with the sisters and be of service to the Christian Religious Experience Week (CREW).

The convent’s Spiritual Life Center offers workshops, retreats, and volunteer opportunities for men, women, and children. For more information, call Sister Bernice, CSFN, or Sister Mary Francis at 268-6540.
