Occupation: I work in the residence life department at Central Connecticut State University, as a residence hall director. I’m responsible for the residents’ well-being.

Family: I live with my boyfriend, Ryan Wien, in Sandy Hook. The rest of my family is in Long Island, including my twin sister, Allie, and my little sister, Meredith.

Pets: We have a cat named Auggie. He came from a shelter in Long Island. It’s a funny story: I filled out all the paper work and was all set to adopt another tuxedo cat that had “thumbs.” But when I picked him up, I didn’t notice it was a different tuxedo cat! But we’re happy to have Auggie. He’s a wonderful cat.

How long have you lived in Sandy Hook? We moved just over two months ago, into a little apartment on Medridge Farm, owned by Julia Wasserman. The property is beautiful. We’re really lucky.

What do you like to do in your free time? I really like to cook. I also like hanging out with my friends and family. I’m a very big reader, and I like to listen to audio books. We like going to movies and have just discovered the Edmond Town Hall Theatre. I like being outdoors, too.

What audio book are you listening to now? I just finished Me Before You by Jo Jo Moyes. It’s about a young girl who is caretaker for a wealthy quadriplegic. It’s a wonderful story. It gives you insight into what it’s like to live in a wheelchair.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Ryan travels a lot for his work as a lead analyst with convention events, so I sometimes get to go with him. I’ve been to Barcelona and Paris with him. I love Barcelona — the people and the culture. But there’s nothing like Paris!

What is the best thing about Newtown? I am so in love with this town. I heard about it from my freshman college roommate, first. And Ryan is from Danbury, so I’ve been traveling through Newtown for about three and a half years. Newtown is the Exit 10 Starbucks!  It’s such a beautiful town and community and the people are beautiful. I wake up every morning and feel so lucky to be living here.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? It feels cliché, but it’s my family. My parents are hardworking people. I wouldn’t be the person I am without them. I credit my work ethic to them.

Do you have a personal philosophy? My mom gave me a magnet that I have on my refrigerator that says, “Whatever You Are, Be A Good One!” It sounds silly, but it’s actually something Abraham Lincoln said.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Television. Netflix is the death of me. Right now, I’m watching Scandal. It’s a good destress for me. Coffee is my other guilty pleasure, but I don’t feel too guilty about it.
