James A. Connelly, Jr, 44, of the Westville section of New Haven, formerly of Newtown, died peacefully at his home July 2, with his faithful German shepherd, Maggie, by his side. He was born in Bridgeport, December 15, 1969.

Mr Connelly was a graduate of Immaculate High School and the Catholic University of America. He worked for the State of Connecticut, Judicial Branch, as a court planner. He also worked for many years for People’s United Bank and was CFO of Acorn Electrical Contractors.

Always informed and engaged in politics, he was a member of the New Haven Livable City Initiative and was on his local ward committee.

His devoted wife of ten years, Melissa (Wirtig) Connelly; his parents Margaret Comstock Connelly and James A. Connelly, Sr; his sister Kara and her husband, Robert Tinkler; his maternal grandmother Catherine Comstock; a niece and a nephew; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends survive Mr Connelly. His infant daughter, Christine Elizabeth Connelly; paternal grandparents Patrick A. and Bridget Casey Connelly; and maternal grandfather John F. Comstock predeceased Mr Connelly.

Services will take place Thursday, July 10, at 10:30 am, at St Rose of Lima Church in Newtown. There will be no calling hours.
