The Newtown Labor Day Parade Committee invites the community to “Celebrate the Fine Arts of Newtown,” honoring the Society of Creative Arts of Newtown with Grand Marshal Ruth Newquist at this year’s Labor Day Parade, Monday, September 7.

The Newtown Labor Day Parade has been a townwide event for the past 54 years, embodying the charm and character of the local community. Since its creation back in 1962, this town parade has grown to be the largest Labor Day Parade in the state. At least three generations of friends and neighbors have watched the local businesses' floats, fancy cars, police department, fire companies, politicians, musicians, school groups, sports teams, and many more marchers parade down Main Street each year. This annual event helps to bring families together for lifelong memories.

The Newtown Labor Day Parade is 100 percent self-funded, and organized by volunteers. It is only through the continued generosity of the community that the parade marches through the streets of Newtown each year. The public and local businesses are invited to support the event as a sponsor or advertiser in the program book, which will be distributed to more than 4,000 attendees at the parade.

To support the parade through a donation, a GoFundMe campaign has been created. The parade committee has set a goal of $5,000 to be raised to ensure the costs of production and materials are covered for the event. If each person who attends the parade each year gave just $1, the committee believes it would be able to meet that goal. Help keep the spirit of the Annual Labor Day Parade alive by submitting any donation possible.
