Richard John Valus

Richard John Valus, 79, of Monroe, died June 27 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was married 57 years to his loving wife, Felicia E. Wishneski-Valus. Born in Bridgeport, he was the eldest son of the late Margaret and John Valus. 

His children and their spouses, Helen and Norman Seferi of Newtown, Richard and Bernadette Valus of Woodbridge, Va., Barbara Valus of Stamford, and Jo-Anne and Joseph Kaspar of Middletown; his grandchildren Nicholas and Erin Seferi, Kenneth and Amanda Seferi, Trevor and Sara Seferi, Adam Seferi, Victoria Kaspar, Brandon Valus and Evrim Yildirim, Carissa and Michael Pouy; his five great-grandchildren; and his brothers Raymond and John survive Mr Valus. His sister, Rita Kutzer, predeceased him.

Retired from Remington Arms as a master machinist, Mr Valus was a member of the Remington Arms 25-Year Club. 

Dick enjoyed playing golf as a member of the Newtown Country Club and especially loved playing golf with “The Boys” from PA. He loved to fish and, most of all, loved his family. He was also known as “Mr Fix-It,” since he could repair anything in his famous garage. 

Mr Valus was a member St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown.

The family is grateful for the wonderful care provided by Life Choice Hospice. 

A memorial mass will take place Saturday, August 2, at St Rose of Lima Church, at 10 am.
