Louis B. Gentile, 63, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Joan Szilagyi Topolski Gentile, died July 10, at St Vincent’s Medical Center. Born in New Haven, son of the late Marie Pastore Gentile and Louis R. Gentile, he was raised in Fairfield and had been a lifelong Fairfield resident.

In addition to his wife, survivors include stepsons Joseph Topolski, and his wife Nadine, of Newtown and James Topolski, and his wife Monique, and John Topolski, all of Fairfield; his son, Louis Anthony Gentile of Trumbull; brothers and wives James and Darlene Gentile and Eugene and Margo Gentile; grandchildren Joseph, Julielle, Sasha, and Alexandra Topolski; and a nephew, Ryan.

He was a retired firefighter and EMT, having been with the Westport Fire Department for 27 years. He enjoyed boating and fishing in Long Island Sound, motorcycling on long distance cross country tours, he was a great fan of the 4th of July fireworksm and was an all around handyman. Mr Gentile liked meeting new people and was known to be a great storyteller. He loved animals, especially his dogs. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Burial will be private.
