The first session of Newtown Continuing Education’s Summer Music & Art (SMART) Camp concluded with a showcase event on July 16.

Just in time for parents to arrive, art and other creations were on display, and campers were ready to hold a fashion show and perform a skit.

SMART Camp is offered in two sessions that run for two weeks each. The camp typically ends with a showcase to display all of the things campers learn about and create during the session. The second session runs July 19 to 30.

Moments into the start of the showcase, SMART Camp Supervisor Anthony Granata said it was “wonderful” to see the campers running around and enjoying having their creations on view.

“Just watching everything come together today is pretty awesome,” said Granata.

Newtown Continuing Education Director Jennifer Arnold said it was great to see the students enjoying everything that was set up for the event.

“They worked so hard. They set it up themselves. They really are artists,” said Arnold.
