To the Editor:

Newtown is lucky to have the opportunity to elect Rebekah Harriman-Stites to be Newtown’s state representative.

Rebekah has been deeply immersed in the Newtown community for 18 years, and she loves it here. She helped found the My Sandy Hook Family Fund and the EverWonder Children’s Museum, chaired the leadership & community engagement program of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, served as PTA president for Middle Gate Elementary School, and volunteers with the Newtown youth wrestling and lacrosse organizations. She has been widely recognized for her leadership in the community, and knows first hand the challenges facing small business owners, as well as those of working families.

Rebekah is smart, organized, dynamic, and tremendously energetic. She is a great communicator who knows how to listen and how to help people work together even if they have different points of view. In these challenging times, we need someone in Hartford who knows how to reach across the aisle and get the best for Newtown, regardless of party affiliation.

Rebekah has served on the Board of Education for six years, and was vice-chair for two years. She believes in the importance of maintaining the quality of Newtown schools, which is vital to our way of life and to our property values. As our state representative, she will work tirelessly to meet the needs of all of Newtown, and to get us the help and support we need to thrive.

Please join me in voting for Rebekah Harriman-Stites for Newtown’s state representative.
