Police report that an incident that involved the threatening display of a knife occurred among a group students who were working summer jobs at Newtown High School.

There were no injuries, police said.

The unidentified youth who displayed the knife reportedly was a boy.

Police said that at about 12:20 pm on Wednesday, July 24, they were dispatched to the school on a report that a person there had pulled a knife on another person.

Police said their investigation found the people involved were students and were working summer jobs at the school.

Police explained that some of the students had become involved in an argument, after which one of them pulled out a knife, displaying it in a threatening manner.

Police said they charged the youth who pulled the knife with carrying a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, and threatening.

That youth was released into the custody of a parent and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Juvenile Court on August 12. Juvenile Court is held in closed session and its actions are not disclosed.

Police did not disclose the identity of the person they arrested, who is under age 18.

NHS School Resource Officer Jason Flynn is the police investigator.
