*A final reminder that the next Live at ETH concert  —  performances being organized by Newtown resident Hayden Bates that raise funds for renovations to Edmond Town Hall on Main Street  —  is this weekend.

Newtown native MorganEve Swain will be returning the ETH stage with music (and life) partner David Lamb, performing as the duo BROWN BIRD, on Friday, August 3. The duo was part of Low Anthem’s show last year for the same fundraising series. Now it’s Brown Bird’s turn to headline, and The Proud Flesh  — a New Haven-based folk rock trio comprised of multi-intrumentalist friends Alexander Burnet, Patrick Dalton and Chris Dickerson  —  will have opening honors.

Tickets are $25 and will be available at the box office of ETH, at 45 Main Street.

*Local guys THE ADULTS have a show at The Old Post Tavern in Fairfield Saturday night.

Vocalist and guitarist Jim Sheridan mentioned this week that he has been told one of the band’s songs will be on The Local Bands Show on 99.1 WPLR this Sunday night. If you find yourself near a radio from 10 until 11 pm, he said, “feel free to investigate.”

*Tickets will be on sale Friday at 10 for the just-announced SLASH show, featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, at The Dome at The Oakdale on Saturday, September 15. All seats are general admission, all tickets are $39.50.

Visit oakdale.com or LiveNation.com for tickets, SlashOnline.com for show and tour details.

*BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E STREET BAND will be at the XL Center in Hartford on Thursday, October 25, and rumor has it tickets will be going on sale next Friday through TicketMaster.

I don’t have details on ticket prices right now, but Hartford was among a set of 16 new autumn dates The Boss and band announced last Friday.

*And finally this week, due to the continued incarceration of LAMB OF GOD singer Randy Blythe in the Czech Republic, the band’s co-headline tour with Dethklok scheduled to begin earlier this week in Seattle has been cancelled. A Friday, August 31 show at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford is among the casualties of this morning’s announcement.

“The band regrets the decision but the uncertainty of Randy’s release makes it impossible to carry on with the tour. Upon Randy’s release, it is the band’s intention to rebook a tour in the fall and at this time the band fully intends to participate in the Mayhem Cruise in December,” the band said through a statement last week. The notice arrived after last week’s Newtown Bee went to press, so this note didn’t make it into the print edition (but it’s a duplicate for those of you who may have read “On The Road” online.)

Refunds are available at the point of purchase.

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you… on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at clubs are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
