Renee Marie Solheim of Sandy Hook and graduate of the 2008 Newtown High School class, graduated with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and computer science from Siena College, Loudonville, N.Y. While at the college, Renee was a president scholar; a recipient of the Grace Hopper Scholarship, which allowed her to attend the Grace Hopper Women in Computing Conference in Portland, Ore.; a Saints Orientation Leader, tour guide ambassador, and the public relations chair on the student events board. Renee is now employed as a marketing coordinator for MoveThatBuck.com and BetBomb.com in Albany, N.Y.

Newtown residents Julie DeAngelis, Laina Piera, and Lila Kohrman-Glaser were announced as being part of the dean’s list for the Spring 2012 semester at Tuft’s University, Medford/Somerville, Mass. To be named on the dean’s list at the university, a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater is needed.

Sarah Talbot was named to the dean’s list for the second quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), in New York. Sarah is studying film in RIT’s college of Imaging Arts and Sciences.

Sonia Brand-Fisher was named a First Group Scholar and was named to the dean’s list at Smith College, Northampton, Mass., for the 2011–12 school year. The dean’s list at the college recognizes students who earned a grade point average of 3.333 or higher. Sonia is majoring in film studies.

 Graham W. Moller of Newtown and Katie R. Serock received a bachelor’s degrees during the 2012 Commencement Ceremonies of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Geneva, N.Y., held on Sunday, May 17. Graham majored in economics and Katie majored in environmental studies and also studied in Argentina.

Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), Baltimore, Md., announced that Garrett Uhde of Newtown graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in video and film arts with a concentration in photography.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, Mass., announced that Adam Morehouse of Newtown, a freshman majoring in mechanical engineering, was named to the university’s dean’s list for academic excellence for the spring 2012 semester.

 Tyler R. Brindley of Sandy Hook received academic honors from the Harpur College of Arts and Sciences at Binghamton University, Binghamton, N.Y., by making the university’s Dean’s List for the spring 2012 semester.
