Michael Lestik III passed away on July 29, after a brave battle with cancer.

Michael was a beloved husband to his wife of 28 years, Therese, and a dedicated and loving father to his children, Christian, 20, and Eva, 13. He was born in Scranton, Penn., and was a longtime resident of Sandy Hook.

Michael showed incredible kindness and love to those around him, and he particularly cherished family gatherings and traditions.

Michael cared deeply for both his own and his wife’s family. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Lestik; his sister, Barbara Spicer, and husband, Randy; brother, David Lestik, and wife, Marilyn; two adult children and a grandson; and many nieces and nephews. Michael will also be sadly missed by John and Elizabeth Kubicko; Sunil, Marisa, Mila, and Dillon Chadda; and John, Dana, Brittany, Meaghan, and Sara Kubicko.

Michael was an avid golfer who enjoyed weekly outings with his buddies and belonged to a golf league. He was a lifelong runner and passed that passion down to his son. He also loved gardening and took great pride in the care of his yard.

His career was focused in the area of IT, and the past 15 years Michael worked for MBI in Norwalk. He loved going to work every day and enjoyed the friendships he made at MBI and the many delicious lunches shared with coworkers. He worked hard to provide a wonderful life for his wife and children.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering for their excellent care and also the staff at Regional Hospice Danbury for the compassionate care provided to Michael during the last week of his life.
